Microscopy photo competition organised by the Environmental Sciences Department of the University of Bordeaux

Nicolas Lavesque (ECOBIOC) and Nathalie Rualez-Lasserre (EA) tied for third place in the Microscopy photo competition organised by the Environmental Sciences Department on 7 November for their photos of Terebellides lilasae and Dinoflagellate theca (diplopsalidacea).

Their pictures are part of the ‘-Scope’ photographic exhibition, which offers a new perspective on the living world by revealing it on a microscopic scale. The extraordinary, watercolour-like and even frightening shapes and hues aroused the curiosity of the spectators. So don’t hesitate to embark on this journey into the infinitely small by finding the 19 competition photographs – currently displayed in large format on the outside railings of the university’s Talence campus – opposite the Peixotto Botanical Garden and at the Béthanie tram stop. The exhibition is due to remain in place until February 2025.

You can find all the photos, their captions and associated publications on the Environmental Sciences Department website.
