On 5 November, Nathalie Tapie and Melina Abdou took part in the first Pop Up Sciences event.
This ‘occupation of public space’ programme brings current debates to places frequented by everyone (green spaces, homes, public squares, etc.). The Pop Up Sciences formats are collective, interactive experiments run by the Cap Sciences team. They are part of the major ‘public approaches’ such as intriguing, questioning, challenging or raising awareness, making it possible to reach as many people as possible on various themes linked to societal challenges. The event took place at the Ginko Market, undercover, with a fake water stand selling water from the Garonne, rainwater and water from the wastewater treatment plant. Curious passers-by were intrigued by the display and discussed the issue of water quality around these original proposals. The veil was soon lifted on the original mediation action and the presence of female researchers. Pop Up is an original event, far removed from traditional presentations of research activities to the public, but one that makes for equally original discussions and encounters!
