The PALEO team, with whom GEOLSED came to lend a hand, provided an opportunity to discover different ways of studying the oceans and making the link with past, present and future climate change through several activities:
► Introduction to the process of processing marine climate archives: observation of a sediment core and identification with a binocular magnifying glass of its microfossil content (foraminifera).
► Understanding the functioning and dynamics of ocean circulation: experiment reproducing ocean circulation using graduated test tubes, dyes, hot and cold water; video and interactive modelling.

The LPTC team was on hand to raise public awareness of environmental contamination by organic molecules, particularly in water. On the programme:
► Presentation of sources of contamination using playmobils.
► Card game on the different categories of contaminants found in everyday products.
► Presentation of sampling tools.
► Impressive filtration workshop for children.
► ‘Thin layer chromatography’ activity using felt-tip pens, which was also a big hit with the young audience.
