Within the PALEO team, Thomas Extier studies in particular the interactions between the carbon cycle and vegetation response over the last 800,000 years. His work also focuses on the reconstruction of climate over the last 4.5 million years with climate models such as iLOVECLIM to see how it has changed and whether these climatic and environmental conditions may have influenced population dynamics in the past. In this interview, he discusses his field of research, the methods used to study past climates and his career at the EPOC laboratory. The objective: to introduce the general public to paleoclimatology and the methods used by researchers to better understand climate change.

This video format is part of a process to promote the work of EPOC and discoveries from different areas of research in the laboratory.
