EPOC
Committed to sustainability
The EPOC (Oceanic and Continental Environments and Paleoenvironments) laboratory is a mixed research unit (UMR) affiliated with the CNRS, the University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux INP and the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes.
The EPOC UMR is a multidisciplinary unit developing strong and recognised expertise in ecotoxicology, ecology, biogeochemistry, environmental chemistry, sedimentology, paleoclimatology, coastal oceanography and geosciences, supported by the eight research teams that make up the laboratory.
These teams are defined on the basis of essentially disciplinary criteria, but also in relation to specific environments such as coastal environments or environments under stress. They constitute the basic scientific entities of the laboratory.
They are primarily responsible for designing and carrying out dynamic, high-quality research in their own specific fields. The UMR encourages inter-team work through internal calls for projects and various regional (e.g. interdisciplinary call for projects from the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Bordeaux) or national (e.g. LEFE programme) funding bodies. Two cross-disciplinary areas (‘multi-scale approaches’ and ‘Pressures, Processes, Interactions’) are led by UMR staff in an inter-team approach.
